Find information and pro football news for each of the National Football League’s thirty-two teams right here!

The National Football League has emerged as the largest pro football league in United States history. Originally started in the year 1920 with only eleven total teams, it was then named the American Professional Football Association. In 1921, the league’s name was changed to the American Professional Football League and it was not until 1922 that the NFL got its current and final name. Today, the National Football League consists of thirty-two pro football teams with homes in different cities across the United States and the NFL is also divided up into two different conferences: the AFC, or American Football Conference, and the NFC, or National Football Conference.

For each of the different pro football teams, their season consists of seventeen weeks of regularly scheduled football games. Each team gets one bye week during the seventeen-week period, so each team plays a total of sixteen regularly scheduled games during each season. Today, each new pro football season begins on the Thursday after Labor Day in September.

After the seventeen weeks of regular games, there are six teams from the AFC and six teams from the NFC to square off in the NFL playoffs. The playoffs are single elimination and lead to one team from the AFC and one team from the NFC playing for the NFL championship in the Super Bowl.

Currently, pro football is the most popular sport in America. Ask almost anyone in the United States and they are likely to have a favorite pro football team. And with the emergence of fantasy football and other similar pastimes, pro football fans are getting in to each game with more enthusiasm than ever. That’s why it can be so important to have the latest and most up to date pro football news.
